OPEN-AIR THEATRE

Although many major theatre productions will not return to the West End until 2021, a number of Britain's scenic al fresco theatres are set to reopen. Perched on the cliffs of Penzance, the location of the Minack Theatre is as dramatic as its productions. But if Cornwall is a bit out of reach, there are open-air theatres in Regent's Park and Brighton too.

DRIVE-IN CINEMA

Grab the popcorn! From socially distant al fresco screenings to retro-inspired drive-ins, the Luna Cinema will be hosting a socially distant programme in some of the UK's most beautiful locations, promising a wonderful night beneath the stars. Films include 2020 Oscar winners Judy and Rocketman, as well as classics such as Grease and Casablanca.

OUTDOOR MUSIC

Whether you're a fan of opera, jazz or pop, the return of live concerts is sure to be music to your ears. The English National Opera is launching ENO Drive & Live – a programme of drive-in opera performances at Alexandra Palace – while Glyndebourne will be hosting informal garden parties. Pub in the Park festival has also announced a series of innovative drive-in concerts, bringing together a great line-up of live music and delicious food.

AL FRESCO ARTS

Set in 500 acres of parkland and home to works by the likes of Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, the recently reopened Yorkshire Sculpture Park near Wakefield refers to itself as a 'gallery without walls', making it ideal for a post-lockdown day out. In the North Downs, the Chalk and Channel Way – a walking and cycling route along the iconic White Cliffs of Dover – boasts scenic sea views and a series of fascinating artworks.
