Viscose is a highly absorbent fabric that is relatively inelastic. As such, it is very delicate when wet and should be washed in lukewarm or cold water on a delicate or hand wash cycle. To wash viscose knitwear: Turn your garment inside out to preserve the colours and brightness. Wash and rinse on a reduced wool cycle and short spin at 30 degrees or less. Use a neutral mild detergent – never use softener.
When wet, viscose fabric shrinks and becomes more rigid, but once it dries, it will recover to its natural shape. On removal from the washing machine, lay the garment on a flat surface, drying rack, or clean towel. Do not wring or twist the garment as this may damage the viscose. Dry flat, away from sunlight or direct heat sources. Once dry, press lightly on the reverse with a cool iron (or alternatively carefully use steam), and smooth the garment back into shape. Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight.
Because moths love warm, damp conditions, viscose should be stored in a cool, dry place and for extra protection, placed in a breathable cotton bag or hung in a clothing cover.
