OUR
MATERIALS

It's well-known that the production of raw materials used to make clothing contributes to a significant social and environmental footprint – and we're determined to change that.

ANIMAL DERIVED MATERIALS

From wool to leather, animal derived materials are intrinsic in our collections. So it's crucial we address the issues associated with production, such as animal welfare, loss of biodiversity and preservation of farmer and local community prosperity.

By working with these globally-recognised standards, we're ensuring our materials are more responsible.

Responsible Wool Standard

Responsible Wool Standard

The Responsible Wool Standard/RWS verifies wool animal welfare and land management requirements and tracks it from the source to the final product.

Recycled wool

For some time now, we've been using certified recycled wool from our trusted Italian mills. By using post-consumer wool, we are reducing energy consumption, the amount of processing needed to make the fibre, the use of water, dyes and chemicals, as well as helping to divert waste from landfill.

PLANT BASED
FIBRES

Across our plant based fibres, we are focused to address farming practices, which will help us to address decent work and progressive agricultural methods protecting soil health, water scarcity and biodiversity. Here's who we're working with as part of this process.

LINEN

MAN-MADE FIBRES
USING
NATURAL SOURCES

We're increasing our use of responsible viscose and other man-made cellulosic fibres. By doing so, we're eliminating the deforestation of ancient and endangered forests while ensuring the chemically intensive pulp dissolving and fibre production processes are responsibly managed.

RESPONSIBLE VISCOSE

Viscose is a man-made cellulosic fibre widely used across the fashion industry. Luxuriously soft with a beautiful drape, it lends itself perfectly to our effortlessly elegant and wearable designs.

While viscose uses natural wood pulp, the manufacturing process can be chemically-intensive and harmful to the environment. We want to safeguard our planet, its species and ecosystems so we've taken steps to switch from generic viscose to responsible alternatives – such as LENZING™ ECOVERO™, LivaEco by Birla Cellulose™ and FSC® viscose.

LENZING™ ECOVERO™

LENZING™ ECOVERO™

LENZING™ ECOVERO™ branded Viscose fibres are the new standard in responsible viscose production. Sourced from FSC® and PEFC™ certified forests, the manufacture of LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibres has a low environmental impact, generating up to 50% lower emissions and water impact compared to generic viscose.

SYNTHETIC MATERIALS

Although synthetic materials can be easy to care for and long-lasting, we want to reduce our reliance on them. Instead, we're using recycled materials that would have ended up in landfills. It's not the perfect solution, which is why we're always looking for more responsible alternatives.
