THE SOCIAL CALENDAR

The social season never ends. So each month we're bringing you all kinds of looks for the many, many occasions currently filling up your calendar.

FEBRUARY

Chinese New Year in Manchester

Usher in the Year of the Pig in Manchester's Chinatown. An annual riot of colour, sounds and delicious smells, the city will be transformed into a bit of Beijing as lanterns, food stands and Chinese Craft stalls line the city's streets. But the festival's highlight has to be the Dragon Parade, which sees a 175 foot paper dragon, alongside a troupe of dancers and drummers. Layer up in lucky red.

Kenwood House Tour, Hampstead

Situated on the edge of Hampstead Heath, Kenwood is one of London's hidden gems. Home to an exquisite collection of artwork and furnishings, a tour around this neoclassical house is not to be missed. You'll discover the stories and history of the house as well as learn about Robert Adams' illustrious interior and the villa's world-renowned paintings. Wrap up in a chic coat before enjoying a stroll around its acres of grounds.

A Valentine's Break in Vienna

Whisk that special someone away for a romantic stay in Vienna. In between admiring the Austrian capital's beautiful baroque streets, imperial architecture and masterpiece-filled museums, be sure to stop by one of its opulent coffee houses for a spot of exquisite cake in equally exquisite surroundings. The chance of snow only adds to the romance ‒ pack a puffer!

Kew Gardens Festival of Orchids, London

A carnival of colour, Kew's annual festival of orchids is the perfect way to escape the winter gloom. Celebrating the breathtaking biodiversity of Colombia, enjoy a spectacular, orchid-laden display along a curated route inspired by the country's wildlife, river Caño Cristales and sprawling rainforests. Blend into the scenery in one of our equally vibrant floral prints.

JANUARY

BURNS NIGHT

Don our woollen tartans and partake in the centuries-old Scottish ritual of Burns Night. An annual event to celebrate the life of Scotland's national Bard, Robert Burns, the night traditionally centres around a hearty supper of haggis, neeps and tatties with a dash of whiskey, followed by recitals of Burns' poetry. Whether you're Scottish or not, it's the perfect excuse for a post-Christmas party!

A LONG WEEKEND IN MARRAKECH

Swap the January blues for the Majorelle blue of Yves Saint Laurent's Moroccan botanical garden. Often described as an unforgettable sensory experience, the ancient city of Marrakech offers a truly enchanting destination for a winter break. From getting lost in its labyrinth-like medina to taking in the sights and sounds of the lively Djemaa El Fna square, it's the perfect place to soak up some culture and winter sun.

WOMEN OF HAMPSTEAD EXHIBITION

To celebrate over 100 years since some women got the vote, Burgh House in London is dedicating an exhibition to the inspiring women of Hampstead. Shining a light on the female artists, poets, writers and politicians who lived in the area, 'All that I am Capable of Becoming' brings their stories to life through a curated collection of artwork and historic objects. Follow up with a stroll around the heath in one of our cosy coats.

LONDON ART FAIR

An unmissable opening to the international art calendar, the annual London Art Fair is back at the Business Design Centre for its 31st edition. Showcasing museum-quality modern and contemporary art from more than 100 galleries, it's a chance to discover sculptures, paintings, photographs and ceramics by internationally renowned artists, as well as attend a range of talks, tours, screenings and curated spaces. A comfy pair of flats is recommended.

DECEMBER

EUROPEAN CHRISTMAS MARKETS

From Bruges to Cologne, Prague to Vienna, Europe has an abundance of festive markets to choose from. A wonderful way to combine a spot of Christmas shopping with some travel, there's nothing like a Christkindlmarkt (and a glass of glühwein) to get you into that yuletide mood. Wrap up warm in our cosy coats.

THE NUTCRACKER AT THE ROYAL OPERA HOUSE

Journey through the land of snow and visit the sugar plum fairy as the enchanting tale of The Nutcracker is brought to life at the Royal Opera House in London. A festive treat for all the family, expect spectacular sets inspired by the quintessential Victorian Christmas and breathtaking performances from The Royal Ballet. Dress up in our sparkling occasionwear ‒ 'tis the season, after all!

HOGMANAY 2019, EDINBURGH

Welcome 2019 the Scottish way at Edinburgh's three-day Hogmanay extravaganza. There'll be a torchlit, Viking-style procession along the Royal Mile and live music across the city centre, followed by unrivalled views of midnight fireworks from Edinburgh Castle. New Year's Day sees intrepid swimmers in fancy dress continue the celebrations with a dip in the freezing Firth of Forth.
Opt for black watch tartan.

THE DICKENS CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL, PORTSMOUTH

Discover a bygone era at The Dickens Christmas Market in Portsmouth. Wander snowy Dickensian streets as they play host to a choir, street performers and a traditional green Father Christmas. Among the festivities, there'll be a modern gin and prosecco parlour, as well as a makers market to celebrate local handmade talent. Stay cosy and chic in a comfy pair of boots.
